Item type:Publication, Is there a gender gap in Portuguese cardiology research? A review of data from the Portuguese Journal of Cardiology Open PDF(2021)Timóteo, A.T.A gender gap is apparent in several professional areas, including in medicine and particularly in the cardiovascular field. We present a brief review of the topic and we analyze data from the Portuguese Journal of Cardiology regarding female authorship. © 2020Item type:Publication, The gender scientific production in Brazil: An overview of administration research groups Open PDF(2014) ;Silva Andrade, L.F. ;Dos Santos Macedo, A.de Lourdes Souza Oliveira, M.This article aims to map the activities developed by gender research groups in the administration field and to understand the relationships between them. Gender identity is seen as an important social category for understanding power relations and human interactions in organizations. To understand these relations, the methodological approach includes bibliometric and sociometric studies of the production of gender research group leaders, whose work lines or research impacts and actions presented in description of the group are related to gender, supported by descriptive statistics in order to facilitate data viewing. A total of 32 groups were found, and most of them are recent (half of them having less than 5 years of formalization) that have, altogether, 42 leaders that produced, as authors or co-authors, 88 articles on gender, between January 1995 and January 2014, with a concentration in A2 and B3 scientific journals. The sociometric study reveals a low density network of co-authorship, without a centralizing actor, featuring a small number of co-authoring relationships and a limited number of authors who have publications on gender. This information indicates that the issue is not researched by these authors or the gender works and projects are not meant for scientific production. It also indicates the importance of postgraduate mentoring, to spread the subject in different universities and to create and mantain relations of co-authorship between researchers who were at any given time, mentors and mentees. The relevance of the results is in the initial understanding of the scientific field, from the research groups, which constitute a major element to postgraduate programs and scientific production. As limitations, the partial analysis of the groups, only considering the production of group leaders, and the possibility of lagged data in the Groups Directory may undermine the analysis. An in-depth study of scientific literature analyzed by sociometrics, the historical restoration of the groups constitution, and their relationships with research and extension projects funded by agencies are shown as perspectives of future investigation. © 2014 Mackenzie Presbyterian University. Largely neglected in Brazilian historiography of the sciences, analysis of this phenomenon introduces a new perspective on the meaning of institutionalization and professionalization of scientific activities, a process in which women have played an authentic role. We explore their presence by analyzing the scientific production published in four journals between 1939 and 1969. Gender differences are detected according to the standard of the publication.Item type:Publication, Open access data for understanding women’s scientific production in Brazil(2019) ;De Oliveira Santiago, M.Dias, T.M.R.The increasing participation of women in scientific and technological careers has been the focus of several studies that seek to outline their academic trajectory. Studying a country’s scientific information is relevant to understanding the evolution of science and broadening perspectives on the current scenario. Thus, the study aimed to analyze the participation of all female PhD students who have curricula registered in the Lattes Platform and whose registered gender is female. The data collection came from the Lattes Platform which contains curriculum information available in open access. Curriculum records were collected at the beginning of March 2019, totaling over 6,126,000 curricula. From this set, and still using the framework, 307,780 curricula of individuals with maximum completed doctorate degrees were selected. Finally, the respective curricula were selected from the group of doctors whose registered gender is female, totaling 149,850 records used for analysis at the end. The data of the PhDs were grouped regarding academic background, publications, productions, orientations, major areas of activity and it was possible to analyze the evolution of scientific and technological production of the set in a temporal way. Studying the various aspects of gender difference in general and particularly in science and technology, as well as being relevant, can be a source of inspiration for government policies and programs that seek to promote change, encourage and value women’s participation in science. © 2019, Brazilian Institute for Information in Science and Technology. The research consisted of an exploratorydescriptivephase centered on Scientometry. The analysis corpus consisted of 20 dissertationsand theses defended between the years 2013 and 2018. The results show us: the production isconcentrated in the southeastern and southern regions of the country; the main programs arePPGEF/UFMG and PPGCMH/UFRGS; the themes studied are directed to the issue of womenand sport; and women emerge as authors. We show that the production seems to reflect thepolitical and social demands regarding the gender category, which can be inferred accordingto the increase in production and effervescence of antigender agendas from 2013 © 2021. It examined 38 national Physical Education journals indexed under Qualis Capes in area 21, which publish sports-related studies. We found 76 articles that were classified in nine categories and divided by year of publication. The results showed that the first publications occurred at the end of the 90 ‘s and a significant increase took place after 2008. The Brazilian Journal of Futsal and Football - the main journal on those sports - was created in the same period. We found a homogeneous distribution between male and female first authors while co-authorship was mostly male. Gender studies represent about one third of all articles on women’s football. This reinforces the importance of the discussion about women’s empowerment for female football and futsal development. © 2018, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Although there was variation between the areas of knowledge, the male predominance was considered unquestionable. In this context, the article aims to evaluate the female publication of the Boletim Paulista de Geografia (BPG) and its keywords, between 1949 and 2018. The bibliometric software Publish or Perish (PoP), VOSViewer and Bibliometrix were used to analyze the respective metrics and indexes. The results obtained showed that, of the 485 articles in the journal, 34% had female participation. The predominance of male-authored articles prevailed until the 1980s. The increase in joint publication of both genders occurred from 2000 and gender parity was observed from 2007. And, considering that the keywords related to teaching stood out, the interpretation is that the BPG reinforces an international trend of gender equality in publications, but with inequalities between the areas of knowledge. © 2023 Universidade Federal do Parana.
