Abstract
The study presents an analysis of publication breaks – long periods between consecutive publications in researchers’ publication trajectories. Empirical analysis uses data on a sample of Russian medical researchers, but the questions asked and the approach suggested are of wider appeal. We investigate how common the breaks are in publication trajectories, and what is the context of the breaks. Particular focus of the study is on difference between female and male researchers. The issues raised could bring some insights into discussion on gender performance gap in science. © 2019 17th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics, ISSI 2019 - Proceedings.
