Item type:Publication, Presence of women in Education research in Colombia: an analysis of journals included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index Open PDF(2021) ;Muñoz-Ñúngo, B. ;Maz-Machado, A. ;Rodríguez-Fanec, C.Cuida, A.Objective. The dissemination of the research carried out in the field of Education has been repeatedly analyzed in the academic world. Several aspects have been studied, such as the relevance of journals in certain scientific areas, as well as the scientific production or collaboration per country. Clarivate Analytis has recently incorporated new tools that aim to cover scientific fields or regions that are underrepresented in the WoS. Thus, the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) was created. The purpose of this study is to analyze the scientific production in the field of education in the ESCI in Colombia between 2005 and 2019 to identify the participation of women in this production. Method. This is an exploratory and descriptive study in which several bibliometric techniques are used to obtain the information. Both Excel and SPSSS software were used to perform the statistical procedures. The gender of all the authors of the document was determined. Results. Our search in the ESCI yielded a total of 3824 documents. The results indicate that in 2005 women only signed 36.67% of the documents, while in 2019 they signed up to 48.52% of them. 61,30% of the times the only author of the documents is a woman. The maximum number of authors is 8. The latter percentage is similar to that of single-autorship male signature, 63,46%. Conclusions. The data obtained allows us to conclude that the gender gap in publications in the field of education in Colombia is closing and that men and women currently sign almost the same number of documents per year. © 2021 University of Pittsburgh. It was found that 55.51% of the authors identified were men, compared to 44.49% of women. The results show that men predominate among the major producers in the field of literature. While among moderate producers (2 to 5) works, 50.36% of the authors identified were men, compared to 49.64% of women. Although works realized individually predominate, as it happens in other scientific disciplines, it is observed that there is an increase of works written in collaboration. I was also observed that collaborative works done between 3 or 4 authors are made up by groups formed by men and women. As conclusion it could be indicated that in the Spanish literature gender equality does not yet exist, especially when considering the elite of the research. It is fundamental to deepen and continue carrying out studies that evaluate the evolution and trends in a disaggregated way by sex, to undertake the corrective measures necessary to achieve gender equality. © 2019, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. The study was based on the rankings of researchers included in the Índice de Impacto de las Revistas Españolas de Ciencias Sociales (INRECS) and Índice de Impacto de las Revistas Españolas de Ciencias Jurídicas (INRECJ). Eleven different scientific disciplines were analyzed and the final sample consisted of 3,370 researchers, of whom 30 % were women. To study gender differences four variables were selected and analyzed: number of papers, number of citations, number of international citations and citation average. The results show that women in the 11 areas studied have both a lower productivity and a lower number of citations. On the other hand, in some areas women do receive a greater number of international citations and in almost all areas achieve higher citation averages. However the presence of women in the rankings and among the Spanish research elite is still small.Item type:Publication, Printed Inequalities: A First Step for the Study of Women History in Peruvian Archaeology Open PDF(2021) ;Tavera Medina, C.Quispe, L.This article focus on the topic of women in the Peruvian archaeological academy from a feminist perspective characterized by its disruptive and critical drive. In Peru, the archaeological community is distinguished by its breadth and diversity in terms of gender, ethnicity, origin, and socioeconomic position. However, research about about a comprehensive history of women in Peruvian archaeology is scarce. In this regard, and to study the level of participation that women archeologists have in local academic production, the authors raise the following question: What is the situation of women archaeologists in the Peruvian academic dissemination spaces? For this purpose, two of the journals with the highest impact at the national level, Arqueología y Sociedad and the Boletín de Arqueología PUCP, were analyzed. The analysis shows the lack of gender equality in these two spaces of scientific dissemination and the underrepresentation of women compared to their male peers, all this in contrast to the steady increase of women in this academic field. © 2021. Analysis of the evolution of female authors presence in Spanish scientific journals on Archaeology (1970-2020) Open PDF(2022) ;Quiles, M.P.Corredor, D.M.This paper presents the study of authorship of men and women of the research contributions published in a selection of ten Spanish Archaeology journals over the last half century. The percentage of representation of women in these high-ranking journals and its evolution during this period is analysed. It is also addressed if there are differences in the proportion of female and male authors according to single and multiple authorships, in signature positions and whether the sex/gender of the first authorship has any influence in the rest. Besides, the study tackles the subject of these contributions and also in accordance with sex/gender of the authorship. The results obtained bring to light that despite the incorporation of women in Archaeology university studies and the profession during the last 50 years, men continue to be authors of the majority of the works published in these journals. This study shows that the low proportion of female authors has been sustained over time without observing a progression to an increasing representation of women as authors of these publications. © 2022 CSIC.
