Genderm⊛re Talk | Evening talks on inclusivity, representation and language
How do we imagine those who do research?
If we asked the people around us to draw someone who works in research, we would most likely see some recurring elements: white lab coats, microscopes, test tubes… and probably a good percentage of male figures.
However, tonight we will ask those who actually do research how they would like to be represented — what elements are missing, and how we can work towards greater inclusivity that is shared, participatory, and intersectional.
We will also explore the many different ways of doing research, beyond the traditional imagery tied only to the hard sciences.
During the event, the new Digital Library of the Genderm⊛re Center, part of the University Library System of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, will be presented. This library is a resource aimed at making scientific research more accessible, while also offering an opportunity to rethink the boundaries within which research is shared.
